FAQ's - Hanoi (Noi Bai) Airport

Hanoi has 4 airports:

1. Hanoi International Airport: serving domestic and international passengers.

2. Bach Mai Airport: pausing operation.

3. Hoa Lac Airport: Military heliport.

Location: Thach Hoa Commune, Thach That District, Hanoi, about 40km to the West of Hanoi city center.

4. Gia Lam Airport: Military heliport, also launched the Song Hong Heli tour service (Red River, Long Bien Bridge, Bat Trang Pottery Village, Co Loa Citadel,... ).

Location: Nguyen Van Linh Street, Gia Thuy Ward, Long Bien District, about 10km to the Northeast of Hanoi City Center.

Hanoi Airport can be called Hanoi International Airport, Noi Bai Airport, or Noi Bai International Airport, its IATA code: is HAN & ICAO code: is VVNB.

It is 850 m between T1 and T2 which take you about 10 minutes of walking. In case you are too tired or can not walk, you can choose to transfer by shuttle bus.

The service is available every day and ticket is free for transit passenger.

  • Operation time of Shuttle bus: From 06h00 to 24h00.
  • Frequency: From 10 to 15 minutes/ 01 bus.

There are many food options for you at Hanoi Airport. You can choose from Fast food (Burger King, Popeyes, …), Hongkong dishes like dim sum, Vegan (Vietnamese specialties, Halad dishes,...), or Breakfast and servings (noodles, Banh mi, Coffee,...).

Check the information on the airplane ticket (Full name, arrival and departure time, check-in counter).

Make sure you have all the necessary documents (Ticket, identity card, passport/visit,...).

Check your luggage (Check the weight of your luggage and hand luggage).

Bring suitable clothes (comfortable outfits, check the weather of the destination, and bring a light coat if necessary).

You can access the wireless network (WiFi) for free in any area of the Domestic or International Terminals at Noi Bai Airport.

Free baggage allowance is regulated by Airlines based on ticket class as each airline has got different parameters in this regard. It is advised that you check the information on your tickets or contact your respective Airline for detailed information.

However, here is some general information:

  • For checked baggage allowance: According to the standard, category, and type of each airline ticket.
  • For hand baggage (free charge): Each piece will not exceed 7 kg and with a total of three dimensions not exceeding 115cm ( corresponding to 56 x 36 x 23 cm or 22 x 14 x 9 inches).

Make sure you check the information on your tickets carefully to avoid weight or size exceeding baggage, as the airline may charge a quite high fee for oversized or overweight baggage.

Noi Bai International Airport provides free charging spots for passengers with 10 chargers for each spot adapted to regular hand phones.

At the Domestic Passenger Terminal (T1):

  • Public areas on the first floor: 1 location in Hall A, 1 location in Hall E.
  • Departure lounge on the second floor: each position in Hall A, B, E.

At the International Passenger Terminal (T2):

  • Public areas on the third floor: 2 locations beside the information counter.
  • Departure lounges: there are 09 locations near gates 21, 22, 23, 28, 31, 32, 33, 34, and 35 (The location of chargers can be found in details on Terminal Layout).

It is highly recommended to use a Private Car from Hanoi Airport to the Hanoi center for its complete privacy, and flexible schedule.

If you give the flight number to the provider, your driver will know if your flight is delayed or canceled and pick you up at the arrival hall with a name board.

For international routes, some airlines permit certain types of animals such as domestic dogs, cats, and birds. However, pregnant animals are not allowed in places.
